That’s what I did (without doing proper research beforehand) and the iPhone 3Gs failed to start. Thought it was a long process so I left it at the black + apple + spinning white dashes screen overnight. Woke up with a completely flat battery.

Then I found out that by doing the “Erase all data and setting” option, it erased the OS too! How can a phone starts without any operating system right? Here’s how you can restore (startup) the iPhone after the complete “detox” of it.

Solution from iClarified.

You need to put your iPhone into DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. If a restore using Recovery Mode doesn’t work you will want to use DFU Mode as a last resort. When placing your iPhone into DFU Mode it does not load the OS before attempting the restore.

To put the iPhone into DFU mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:

Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.

Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time. (That’s the only 2 buttons on your iPhone! You know where they are right?)

After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

Click on “Restore” button in your iTunes and wait for the process to complete. It’ll take about 15 to 20 minutes.

The iPhone screen will remain black and blank during the restoring process.

NOTE***: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, hold down both buttons then release the Sleep/Wake button just before you think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo on your iPhone then you are holding them down for too long! Do it again till you get a black blank screen.

Hope this helps!

“What a torch by Blackberry? You’ve got to be kidding me! Why would anyone want a torch when they’ve got the flash light on their mobile phones?”

Hang on a minute! We’re not talking about the torchlight! This is Blackberry’s latest addition to their touch version and comes with their latest OS. Had about an hour of play with it and here’s my take on the Blackberry Torch 9800.

Disclaimer: I’m an iPhone addict so naturally I’m comparing it with this.

Best of both world built into one, Touch + QWERTY: Typing on the screen is (almost) effortlessly for me. QWERTY needs a little getting used to.

The menus and application icons are grouped by function; and navigating through is quite a breeze, both on the screen and from the trackpad.

Camera lacks close-up function, even with the text-mode on, the only way to get closer to the subject is by zooming.

No HD video recording.

You can’t download all the apps on the go.

Not quite a multimedia phone if you’re a video/ music person. Sound quality lacks power.

Though I got quite hooked to it, I’m no way close to converting. More time is needed to get acquainted and dive deeper into the features before I can give you ladies a detail review. If you’re planning to get this or switching it over from an iPhone, watch this blog! Hope to get our hands on a unit soon!

For ladies who appreciate super-compact camcorders with Full HD video performance, you must check out Samantha the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150. I hanged out with Sleek Sexy Samantha for a month and truth to be told, our friendship was forged instantly at the sight of her ultra-compact size.

Samantha is a super-compact camcorder from Sony that gives a full 1920 x 1080 full HD video resolution and 3.0-megapixel still images. So being compact in size, Samantha makes for easy filming especially in situations where there isn’t much space to work around with.

We can expect clear and crisp video result from Sally. This babe comes with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 25x optical zoom lens, 16GB of embedded Flash memory, and a new EXMOR R CMOS sensor. Here’s an example of how clear and crisp the video turned out when Samantha and OpenRice Singapore filmed Celebrity Chef Bobby Chinn at Mandarin Oriental Singapore. Doesn’t the background view of the Singapore’s skyline look simply amazing?

Well, her crisp performance is not really a surprise. Moreover, the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 touch screen capability makes for easy adjustments on the swivel screen per second than to go through the hassle of having the device being cluttered with too many buttons. Basically, the functions provided are also very straight-forward and is user-friendly and almost foolproof to any video amateurs like me!

And I’m not even done yet. Samantha’s Exmor R” CMOS Sensor and wide angle Sony Lens G make stunning Full HD videos in spectacular detail and rich colours possible. That brings us to superior low-light performance. Check this out. It was really really dark and romantic when I brought Samantha out on a date at One Rochester.

And have I told you that I really think Samantha will make a perfect girlfriend for concerts as she enables easy panning? She comes with a great sensor and rarely have any jello effect when it comes to fast pans. You go, girl!

My grouse was the hassle of adjusting the focus and exposure while filming. To adjust the focusing, I have to enter the menu, select the function that I want to change and do the necessary setting while filming. This process becomes a tad tedious if it’s a long video shoot. Well, I’m able to use Samantha for a little more than 2 hours continuously without a need to recharge so that explains.

In 1 sentence, I would say that Samantha the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 is simple in design but powerful in performance. Ladies, you’ll love her in RED.

Samantha, The Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 is available at the retail price of SGD S$1,399.00 (inclusive of GST) in Red, Blue and Black.

Headphones these days come in all shapes, style and sizes! It’s tough shopping for one right? Well, ladies if you are planning to get one, you might want to hold your purchase till these hit the stores.

Designed for the active users, especially for those who likes to dance or likes bright colorful style that’s BOOMZ, you might want to go check out the soon to launch SONY PIIQ headphones.

Featuring sleek design with 30mm drivers and neodymium magnets, the MDR-PQ2 headphones delivers powerful bass and rich, full sound for your listening enjoyment. To top it up, the headbands are padded to ensure comfort listening.

The SONY Giiq is comfortable to wear and fits pretty well on my big head with the adjustable headbands. Sound wise is pretty ok, personally I would have liked it more if bass was more powerful.

Designed to clip onto your earlobes without slippage, the MDR-PQ4 headphones ensures a comfortable fit with soft clip-on earbuds, while its 9mm drivers delivers crystal clear sound for your listening enjoyment.

This SONY Qlasp confused me a little when I was saw it. Usually earpieces have hooks to go around the ears. But this, it’s supposed to be clipped on your earbuds. Felt a little awkward for me as my earbuds are meatier. (Okie, meatier is not quite the right word… not sure how to describe my earbuds!) You got to try it on to decide if its comfortable for you. Sound quality was clear. Similar to that from the Sony Walkman.

Prices for these headphones are unknown at point of writing this post. Please check out SONY website for more details.

We spent two whole weeks together and he was such a darling! It’s so easy to get him wet! Hehe. OK Shaun is a Cyber-shot TX5. Sony’s first waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and heat-resistant camera! Targeted at consumers who lead an active outdoor lifestyle, Sony’s new Cyber-shot TX5 is the world’s slimmest waterproof digital still camera. I know I’m such a sucker for slim, pretty gadgets.

Now, ladies be nice and say hello to Shaun.

He’s a sexy, pink, waterproof and shockproof 10.2 megapixel Cyber-shot TX5. Don’t be fooled by his delicate looks. Weighing at just 144g, this handsome tough cookie is built to withstand the daily grind without sacrificing its ability to take clear and vivid photographs. Do you know that the Sony Cyber-shot TX5 can withstand drop shocks from a height of 1.5 m, and is also resistant to temperatures up to -100C? And to all ladies who are into snorkelling/water sports, note that the super stylish Cyber-shot TX5 can be used in waters up to 3m deep for up to an hour!

Tada! I have a picture taken before a swim. Told you I got him wet.

People were staring at me! They thought I was trying to do something stupid/crazy with Shaun. On my way home, realised that there’s paint function which allows me to edit the picture on the spot.

With a width of just 16.7mm, his waist is wayyy slimmer than mine. Haha. Oops I was about to say that it is no wonder he is the world’s slimmest waterproof compact camera. Sexy aesthetics aside, what I like best about Shaun is his intuitive touch screen and 25mm wide-angle lens, which offers the option of capturing photographs with more varied perspectives. Look at this plate of tasty pork belly shot via the Gourmet Shooting Mode when I visited Firestation Hillside Gastrobar last week.

Nope, I did not edit any of these pictures! And the following picture is taken right outside my window with the Landscape Mode. Me love love love the Cyber-shot TX5 25mm wide-angle lens.

Pss. Shaun is pretty sensitive. Equipped with the high-sensitivity Exmor R CMOS sensor, he delivers visually stunning photographs with increased detail and extremely low noise. Combined with an advanced BIONZ image processor and high performance Carl Zeiss lens, Shaun is able to capture photos even in extreme low light conditions, such as a scenic panoramic view of the city skyline at night, using the Handheld Twilight mode.

Come to think of it, Shaun the Cyber-shot TX5 is not only perfect camera for ladies who love the outdoors while staying in style but he’s also an eyecandy. All my girlfrends went ooh and ahh over his sleek gorgeous looks. Though I don’t do activities such as snorkeling and hiking trips in cold or damp locales, having the world’s slimmest waterproof digital still camera in my clutch bag feels shiok. Haha. You never know. These days, wacky ladies like me need to be on stand-by mode just in case impromptu plans to get engaged in more active lifestyles pops by and hey, now all I need is some sturdy products like Shaun that can capture life’s great moments effortlessly!

PS: Thank you Shaun. You have been a sexy partner. And now, my fickle heart shall move on. Stay with Ladies with Tech for updates on my next toy boy. (:

Shaun, the waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and weather resistant Sony Cyber-shot TX5 is available at the retail price of SGD 599 (inclusive of GST) in Green, Pink, Red, Silver and Black.
