That’s what I did (without doing proper research beforehand) and the iPhone 3Gs failed to start. Thought it was a long process so I left it at the black + apple + spinning white dashes screen overnight. Woke up with a completely flat battery.

Then I found out that by doing the “Erase all data and setting” option, it erased the OS too! How can a phone starts without any operating system right? Here’s how you can restore (startup) the iPhone after the complete “detox” of it.

Solution from iClarified.

You need to put your iPhone into DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. If a restore using Recovery Mode doesn’t work you will want to use DFU Mode as a last resort. When placing your iPhone into DFU Mode it does not load the OS before attempting the restore.

To put the iPhone into DFU mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:

1. Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.
2. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time. (That’s the only 2 buttons on your iPhone! You know where they are right?)
3. After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
4. Click on “Restore” button in your iTunes and wait for the process to complete. It’ll take about 15 to 20 minutes.
5. The iPhone screen will remain black and blank during the restoring process.

NOTE***: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, hold down both buttons then release the Sleep/Wake button just before you think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo on your iPhone then you are holding them down for too long! Do it again till you get a black blank screen.

Hang on a minute! We’re not talking about the torchlight! This is Blackberry’s latest addition to their touch version and comes with their latest OS. Had about an hour of play with it and here’s my take on the Blackberry Torch 9800.

Disclaimer: I’m an iPhone addict so naturally I’m comparing it with this.

• Best of both world built into one, Touch + QWERTY: Typing on the screen is (almost) effortlessly for me. QWERTY needs a little getting used to.
• The menus and application icons are grouped by function; and navigating through is quite a breeze, both on the screen and from the trackpad.
• Camera lacks close-up function, even with the text-mode on, the only way to get closer to the subject is by zooming.
• No HD video recording.
• You can’t download all the apps on the go.
• Not quite a multimedia phone if you’re a video/ music person. Sound quality lacks power.

Though I got quite hooked to it, I’m no way close to converting. More time is needed to get acquainted and dive deeper into the features before I can give you ladies a detail review. Well, her crisp performance is not really a surprise. Moreover, the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 touch screen capability makes for easy adjustments on the swivel screen per second than to go through the hassle of having the device being cluttered with too many buttons. Basically, the functions provided are also very straight-forward and is user-friendly and almost foolproof to any video amateurs like me!

And I’m not even done yet. Samantha’s Exmor R” CMOS Sensor and wide angle Sony Lens G make stunning Full HD videos in spectacular detail and rich colours possible. That brings us to superior low-light performance. Check this out. It was really really dark and romantic when I brought Samantha out on a date at One Rochester.

And have I told you that I really think Samantha will make a perfect girlfriend for concerts as she enables easy panning? She comes with a great sensor and rarely have any jello effect when it comes to fast pans. You go, girl!

My grouse was the hassle of adjusting the focus and exposure while filming. To adjust the focusing, I have to enter the menu, select the function that I want to change and do the necessary setting while filming. This process becomes a tad tedious if it’s a long video shoot. Well, I’m able to use Samantha for a little more than 2 hours continuously without a need to recharge so that explains.

In 1 sentence, I would say that Samantha the Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 is simple in design but powerful in performance. Ladies, you’ll love her in RED.

We spent two whole weeks together and he was such a darling! It’s so easy to get him wet! Hehe. OK Shaun is a Cyber-shot TX5. Sony’s first waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and heat-resistant camera!
